Personally I am still absorbing all the art I took in last weekend, but if you missed it, or still want more, there are a few great events happening this weekend on the vancity arts scene.
1- "Scapes Art Exhibition" is happening at the Autumn Book Gallery (1545 West 4th Ave.)and will showcase new works by Chrystale Thompson (fashion art), Maureen Cameron (fine art photography), A. Travis Cory (mixed media pieces), and Chris Hunter (landscape and floral paintings). The show will be a 3 day affair on Sunday Nov. 27 from 12-5 PM, and on Tuesday, Nov. 29th and Wednesday, Nov. 30th from 10:30-6 PN. That should keep you on your toes! Maybe it is a ruse to make sure you write it in your organizer....RSVP to organizer Jessica Thompson at jessica@ecstaticdesigns.com.
2- Julie Morstad has an opening at the Atelier Gallery called "Lies My Cousin Told Me". Her bizarre, whimsical drawings engage you in a curiosity to discover their narrative. The opening reception is
Saturday, Nov. 26th from 2-4 PM, and the show runs until Dec. 15th.
3- If you're looking for some quality art that you won't have to starve for, the annual Emily Carr Institute's Art Show and Sale this weekend. You can view and purchase the artwork at the ECIAD campus (1399 Johnson Street, Granville Island), Nov. 25th 12-8 PM, Nov. 26th 10 AM- 6 PM, and Nov. 27th 12-5 PM.
4- The monthly FUSE event at the Vancouver Art Gallery is on tonight and will feature music by DJ Granny 'Ark, performance by LIVE 2005 Biennal Performance, a lecture on "Loving Picasso" by pop culture pundit Joli Jensen, and of course paintings by the man himself are still showing until January 15th. Hours are 6-11 PM, admission is $10.
5- Finally, there is a show happening at the funky Nelson Cafe (655 Nelson Street), next Wednesday, Nov. 30th, from 7 PM until late. Sounds like fun! The show will feature are by Liz Bailey, Alicia Lumb, and Joanna Macdougall.
