Baby, it's cold outside and Christmas is coming and art galleries are responding with some great winter and holiday shows. It's the perfect recovery from all that crazy Christmas shopping and stress and tinny Christmas music - just go and stare at a serene snowy landscape for a bit and you'll be ready to go again.
1) The Exposure Gallery has a "Winter Salon" group photography show on right now. The opening night was last Friday, but the photos are showing through this weekend.
2) Likewise David Burdeny's show, "Shorelines" will calm even the most harried shopper. Soft sedated imaged of water and docks, muted into gentle grey tones, his work is just beautiful and powerful in it's simpleness. These photos will be at the Jennifer Kostiuk Gallery (2928 Granville Street) until December 31st.
3) Vancouver photographerRhonda Fast has a photography show titled "Strike" opening at the Wicked cafe (1399 West 7th Ave. - at Hemlock) tomorrow night at 7 PM. If you can't make that, the art will be up for about a month afterwards. More details via Kris.
4) The Diane Farris Gallery (1590 West 7th Ave) presents "Freeze, A Celebration of Winter" until Dec. 23rd. This is a group show with artists Angela Grossmann, Jesse Garbe and Kathryn Jacobi.

5) Arleigh Wood is showing some of her artwork at The Flower Factory (3604 Main St. - at 19th Ave.) until January 18th. There is an artist's reception tonight from 7-9 PM, so go and check out the art, maybe buy some flowers while you're there.
6) Finally if you do still need to finish up your Christmas shopping and don't want to go back to the mall, the Museum of Anthropology at UBC (6393 NW Marine) is having a "Windows on the World" Art Bazaar that will feature creative gifts from around the world. On until Dec. 24th.
