Have you ever wanted to find something that wasn't available to be found? A handful of socialsits at SFU started ordering books on topics that they couldn't find elsewhere. Which eventually turned into
Spartacus Books down at Hastings and Cambie. Which eventually turned into a sort of community hub, gathering point. Which disseminated books and info from everything from Maoism to Che-ism to eco-ism to gay-ism and all the radicalist subjects inbetween. Until eventually it burned down. It was really really sad. But after lots of work from countless volunteers, and one hundred and seventy-five kissing booth smooches, Spartacus Books is back and celebrating the fact Feb 5 with their Grand Opening.

There'll be nibblies, music, books, mags, and zines that you definitely won'f find at Chapters, and probably a bunch of happy intellectuals. Do swing on by, peruse a few pages, and reminisce about the old store which you may or may not have ever seen. It's ok, it's the thought that counts.
