Would you camp out over night in order to get a mere five minutes in front of a jury to pitch your film short? If you're picked to go ahead, you get eight days, 30 minutes of film stock, a huge budget, and a variety of industry help (studio time, props, construction, etc). That's it; nothing fancy, just a huge deadline and limited resources. Whee!

Oh yeah, and it's first come, first served for applications and pitches; Applications will be accepted on March 13th, 2006 and due to limited space will be processed on a 'first come first served' basis. You might want to consider showing up really early, or showing up the day before with your sleeping bag. Expect that there will be easily 60 teams there to apply, and remember that there's only so many pitch slots to go around, all fighting for one of the 8 spots in the festival this year. Okay, that's up from the more typical five recipients, but it's still harsh odds, so get your application in early and make your pitch good.

Citytv Vancouver has returned as a Crazy8s sponsor and is encouraging culturally diverse production teams to present pitches to make a Crazy8s film. The best pitch will receive a $2500 cash prize through Citytv's CineCity: Vancouver's Stories an initiative designed to support emerging visible minority and aboriginal filmmakers through development and production.

So, all you film school grads need to start practicing your five minute pitches, get your story straight and get your application in so that we can see your work of art up on the screen.

GO!
