I couldn't log on for some reason this weekend, so the Public Art column got unavoidably delayed even further. But here it is! And I know there are a lot of exclamation marks in this post, but it's not every day that you discover a new bit of street art with a nobel purpose and in an unusual medium at that.
"Nobody's Home", a cement sculpture tribute to the homeless popped up along the water in North False Creek (close to Science World), sometime last week. A small tag attributes the work to "Ground Control" but this is the first I've heard of that artist. But more please! I love how the buildings are all stone, so they have the appearance of stability and sameness, but are impenetrable. A virtual little village of possible housing, all shut off. That's really all I have to say since I don't know anything about this artist, but I'l keep you posted if I find out more.
