032106_ripe.jpgI went into Pulp Fiction today to trade some old Taschen art books for some quick cash only to turn around and spend it on the new issue of Ripe. The cover is beautiful; a photo by Danny Singer of some anonymous small town in the winter. The theme is "And", although some of the photographs inside don't really seem to capture such an ambiguous topic. After quickly flipping through pictures by Dan Siney, Shawn Records, Tim Barber, Mike grill, Heidi Johansen, Eamon MacMahon, Brian Howell, Gary Hubbs, and many others I noticed a very familiar name. Degan Beley! From Beyond Robson!

And her story is lovely. Simply lovely. Clever, dramatic, linguistic...lovely. Of course she's too humble to post it on BR, so it's up to me to spread the gospel. I got mine at Pulp Fiction, but you can get yours at

It seems useless to have a theme if no one is going to run with it.
