Is anyone getting tired of the weekly heads up on the arts scene? Let me know if you're getting it from the Georgia Straight or the Portfolio magazine anyways or if it's not interesting or whatever and I'll drop it. Although, I might not, because it's a handy reminder when I'm figuring out my weekend... Anyways.
This weekend. the Diane Farris Gallery hosts Roberta Bondar's photography show, "Desert in Time". Bondar is an astronaut turned artist and this show of deserts from around the world was inspired by views from her space mission."
There is an opening reception tonight Thursday March 23rd, from 6 - 8 PM as well as book-signing on Saturday March 25, from 2-4 PM. The book is "The Arid Edge of Earth" which showcases the images in the exhibit.
Also this weekend is Emily Carr's annual grad class auction. The art is available for viewing now and the auction takes place Saturday, March 25 at 7pm at the Institute's Concourse Gallery. There is usually some good stuff in there, so it's worth a look if you need some less expensive art or if you're just interested in what the kids are doing these days.
