Signal and Noise

Every night, for whatever reason, and I'm sure there's a good one, an endless river of black clouds the sky in the form of crows migrating across the city to Burnaby. They seemingly mimic the endless stream of commuters on their way home to the suburbs. Do crows have office jobs? I don't know. At this year's Signal + Noise Zoe Gordini and Vern Clare attempt to create a situationist detournment by interrupting this nightly crow migration. By donning a suit made of bread, they hope to intervene this act of nature and include crows in art.
Of course, Signal+Noise is a festival full of experimental audio and video. Other highlights include a sleep surveillance piece called Are we sleeping yet? by Reena Katz of T.O. Local graphic designer The Wax Museum present the Cronenburg sounding "Get Fucked in a Crash". Niklas Golbach will have the honour of doing the front window installation. Christian Nicolay will be showing Amptank, and there will be a whole array of experimental music by such notables as Lee Hutzulak and Francoise Houle. Check out the program for schedule times.

Whoa, they're going to tempt multiple murders of crows by wearing a bread suit? That takes nerves of steel. Fa' real. Sorry about that.
