"I love things made out of animals. It's just so funny to think of someone saying, 'I need a letter opener. I guess I'll have to kill a deer." This is David Sedaris, essayist, humorist, writer of hilarious best-sellers, and radio commenter. He is also a soon to be guest of our lovely city. The Vancouver International Writers and Readers Festival has invited him to Vancouver for his first ever Canadian appearance as a special evening part of the festival.

The event will be happening after the regular part of the festival, on November 1 at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts. Books will be sold there and there will be a signing too.

His books, "Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim" and "Me Talk Pretty One Day are massively popular things, full of his self-depricating and wry wit that will keep a smile on your face. Here is an excerpt of "Me Talk Pretty One Day" if you want to check it out before going, but he will not disappoint. No way.

He's not coming until November, but tickets are only on sale until Sept. 22nd, and they will no doubt be going fast. $38 plus a $2 facility charge at Ticketmaster.
