Ra Ra for Paper-Ya!

My name is Degan and I am addicted to paper. Badly addicted. And not just paper either, but pens, notebooks, paper-clips, books, letterhead, etc. In short, a high-end stationary store is enough to send me into a rapture, and the only place to go when I am ready to gorge myself on specialty office supplies is Paper-Ya on Granville Island. Filled to the brim with soft Italian journals, vintage Parisienne luggage tags, delicate organic tissue paper and layers and layers of beautiful things, my girlfriend literally has to drop me off when we go there and pick me up later.

I was recently tasked with making a guest book for my friend's upcoming wedding, and the salesladies were wonderfully patient with my million questions, pulling out everything in the store and changing my mind a half a dozen times, but finally I emerged triumphant with an armful of supplies and some handmade paper that is soft enough and beautiful enough to sleep in. I may have bought too much of it on purpose...

Amen to that.

Another place you can find us stationary supply addicts is Sears/Eatons/whatever-they're-calling-themselves-now on Georgia & Granville. Tons of really lovely wrapping paper by the sheet n' other stuff. If I could afford it I would wallpaper my house in the stuff.

Does anyone know of a support group for those afflicted with this lust for paper & pens?

If there is a support group, I need to join too. I will be moving away from Vancouver in October and I DON'T KNOW WHAT I'M GOING TO DO FOR MY PAPER FIX!!!! It's keeping me awake at nights, I tell ya.

The store in the Bay is called: "Essence du Papier", it's right on the corner of Granville & Robson - go through the door to Sears & you're there.

Yes! If you know of any other cool paper/stationary let me know. I go ga-ga for awesome paper & design.
