A Night for All Souls - The Sequel

This Saturday the city is hosting A Night for All Souls at Mountain View Cemetary. Last year was the first time this event had ever been organized but it went well so here it is again. And, like all sequels it takes the precedent's success and tries to be better, if a bit redundant.
The event starts out with preparations such as grave locating, cleaning and decorating from 13.00 - 16.00. At 18.00
the fires and first candles are lit to begin the night for all souls. There will be public shrines, inviting people who don't have family graves to remember their dead with flowers, candles, photos and messages. The shrines will be maintained until November 3 when everything left standing is burned and buried at the cemetary.
The organizers are asking that you do not drive to the event as there is limited parking and, frankly, the exhaust and noise harshes people's mellow.
There are volunteer opportunities. If you would like to volunteer call 604.830.2314 or visit their site.
A Night for All Souls is this Saturday (October 28) 13.00 - 22.00 @ the north end of Mountain View Cemetery (Fraser and 33rd Avenue)
