The grand opening of Vancouver's Funny Bone was almost two weeks ago but I'm just writing about it today. I pose this question to myself: why has it taken me so gosh-darn long to record my experience? Could be I'm just plain lazy, or maybe it's because I was so blown away by the whole experience I haven't yet possessed the presence of mind required to write about it. Guess what me? The answer is...

I'm just lazy. It was a great night though. Firstly, the place is huge. At just over 400 hundred seats it's one of the largest comedy venues in North America which means that Vancouver can finally play host to some of the bigger names in comedy - Gilbert Gottfried performs October 13th and 14. The doormen were a pleasure (I love Kanchy!), the servers were fantastic and once they actually have a real bar in there (they're still renovating) Vancouver's Funny Bone will be the city's next hotspot. Not just for people who want to enjoy some stand up either - think old school Las Vegas ballroom, just replace the dancing with laughing. Speaking of Las Vegas, the club is actually situated inside the Edgewater Casino which is perfect for anyone looking for an alternative to going home after gambling away their life savings. After all, when it comes to addiction, isn't laughter the best medicine? As for the show itself: the headliner who performed was akin to a comedic god. Marc Maron was reminded my very much of Richard Lewis...except funny.
