This week in art, a weekly heads up on the Vancouver arts scene.

Two arts previews in one week and 2 killer art shows to go to this Saturday night! What a wonderful problem to have. I already mentioned about Vague Undertaking at the Chapel, but now there is also a show at Cartelera Talent House, which is chock full of talent and really starting to overflow. Throw in some music by the 1//2 alive krew (tony x, my!gay!husband! and Curtis Santiago) and also a performance by Onomatopoeia and the talent it out the door and lined up around the block.

Details after the jump.

Resident artists at the Cartelera Talent House include:

Abbas Akhavan, Jeff Petry, Graeme, Megan Paterson, Jesse Savath, Ehren Salazar, Thomas Stitt, Nathan Drillot, James Acrow, Danny Vermette, Tony X, Rebecca Chaperon, Angela Fama, and Todd Duym.

The party's this Saturday, March 31st, starting at 9 PM and you'd better go, because really, I don't think the art will be viewable after Saturday. Maybe if you hide in the bathroom you could see it Sunday....or if you make friends with the residents they might let you back, but anyone else? I'd make sure to see it Saturday. To get there, go to 1898 Main Street (between 2nd and 3rd, on the east side) and head on up to the 2nd floor.

This party was BANANAS. Highlights include the one-man "Islands in the Stream" duet, a dance floor at capacity for the entire evening, and Alan Cumming. Oh yeah, the art was great, too. Looks like we've got some promising new art venues with Cartelera and the Chapel.
