I've become quite a fan of local ceramic artist, Jasna Sokolovic. Her image transfer techniques on ceramic fused with her painting or drawing applied afterwards create these unique one of a kind wall pieces. Each piece is fired after the surface treatment, even up to five or six times.

In addition to her wall pieces, she creates these adorable tiles that are meant for hanging by themselves or as a grouping. Worn images of wallpaper in the background, with flowers, birds or dresses drawn about, sometimes words, create an atmosphere almost like a dream.

With a foundation in architecture, Jasna moved to Canada from Yugoslavia in 1994. First to Montreal, studying at Concordia University and later to Vancouver where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Emily Carr Institute of Art & Design in 2000.

Her pieces including her beautiful ceramic jewelry (which I haven't mentioned here) can be purchased at her online shop or at her studio, located at 1375 Railspur Alley, Granville Island, Vancouver B.C. and she is represented at these galleries and associations: C1 Art Space, Toronto, Ontario; Lonsdale Gallery, Toronto, Ontario; Lunar Boy Gallery, Astoria, Oregon; and BC Ceramics Gallery, Vancouver B.C.
