GallerySpace: Camilla d'Errico & Lani Imre

Two different comic-book style artists, Camilla d'Errico and Lani Imre will be opening a show tonight at the Ayden Gallery. Sea to Sky will feature new works by both artists and this will be something of a "last chance" opportunity to see d'Errico's stuff (at least for a while), as she's going to be focusing her energies on US and Italian galleries for the next few years.
Her style is whimsical, part robotic and part mythological with a little bit on anime thrown in. Girls feature prominently, as do helmets and octopusses. Lani Imre is a Canadian artist working out of San Francisco. She has a refined, multi-layered style that switches easily from line drawings to colourful characters.
Camilla d'Errico is a longtime favorite artist of mine, while Lani Imre is new to me, so something for everyone! I'd be looking forward to checking it out tonight, except that I'm heading out of town, so I'll have to stop by later. Reception is on tonight, Friday September 14th from 7PM to 11PM. There will be music by DJ RICCO and lots of good eye candy (both arty and otherwise, I'm sure). And if you're like me and can't make it to the party, the exhibit will be up until Oct 7 th.
COMINGS & GOINGS
Note the Ayden Gallery's new address in Gastown starting today. Check it out at 49 Powell Street (between Carrall and Columbia).
They've been guest curating at Chapel Arts since they left their huge space at the Tinseltown mall but it sounds like Gastown is going to be an excellent move for them.
