This week in art, a weekly heads up on the Vancouver art scene.
This Friday night is going to be a busy night for art lovers! Good thing I'm getting my hair cut tomorrow! First up is the Martyr Party at the Martyr Gallery, where you are invited to "Sacrifice Your Money for the Art Principle" and also to view new works by artists Cameron Andrews and Jessica Bushey. A gallery with a purpose, that's what I call that. This is one-night only show, happening on Friday, December 1st at 857 Beatty Street. The party's on from 6 PM - 11 PM.

Just stumbling distance down the street at 548 Beatty Street, Megan Majewski of dead kittie toonz is opening another one-night only! go Friday or you'll miss it! show called "Dolls and Halloween". Check out her site for more of her stuff, but let me tell you, this girl is a rad artist, and this will for sure be a fun opening.

Finally, if you feel like you need a change of scene from Beatty Street, head over to the art+soul gallery at 1277 Robson Street where "Wear Anything" is opening for World Aids Day (this Friday, Decemeber 1st). It's a gallery show, plus fashion evening, plus fundraiser for A Loving Spoonful and Friends for Life, so you can't get much better than glamour and good karma. The art component is a series of paintings by G-Luve alongside photos taken by Kristine Chow at the "Wear It Anywhere Party" of fashions that incorporate the red Aids Ribbon in some way. It's Friday night from 7 PM - 10 PM.
