I missed David Cross' sold out shows last year, but I won't make the same mistake when he returns to ComedyFest this week with a buttload of performances in various shows. This time around, he's brought his buddies from Mr. Show with him. I can't think of a better way to laugh away the death of summer than by catching these festival highlights featuring alternative comedy's brightest stars:

The last time I saw a concert with my sisters was Michael Jackson on The Jackson's Victory Tour (BC Place, 1984). We sat in the nose-bleeds, me wearing my raglan baseball shirt with maroon sleeves and Thriller album art printed on the chest from the Dog's Ear. My sisters were rocking big bangs, skinny jeans, and rhinestone glove earrings. The excitement and energy in the dome that night was nearly radioactive, and the spectacle was on a scale that only the world's biggest pop star could produce--fireworks, lasers, and even a magic show where MJ disappeared from a cage suspended in the air, then re-emerged on the other side of the stage. I had only recently perfected my moonwalk while he was already mastering teleportation. My quest to be the next MJ would prove to be a difficult one.
