Who are the ones that bring fucking tear gas and shields to a demo? I don't care if there are a few good apples, you don't pick through a whole bunch of rotten, maggot infested apples to find a nice one, and the VPD are some of this country's worst.

I grew up in Surrey, so you'd think I might be used to tough-ass cops, but dude, its like the difference between a kindergarten teacher and your high school principal. Everytime I go to an Anti Poverty Committee rally the fuzz bust it up. Well, now Conrad Schmidt of the Work Less Party is on the case and he's set up a website where you can register complaints about excessive police force. I tried it! Now its your turn! Its fun! Its interactive! Its Anti-establishment!

My incident is pretty minor to some of the shit these guys have pulled in the DES. Frank Hall, Jeff Berg, The Britannia five, the Stanley Park beatings, WoodSquat, and most notably their lethargic response to the 50+ missing women. Then there's the 'Riot at The Hyatt', APEC, Stanley Cup, and Guns N Roses. Or East Vanada Day last year. What, too many cute indie kids on bikes? Or the Punk House @Main and 12th and how they shut down the Party Army Website afterwards. They also busted an Antisocial art show I was at in the summer. A fucking art show! And now of course, there's the infamous Safe Streets Act. Why don't they just cut welfare and then make it illegal to be poor?

World class city. World Class.

Sean, is there anything you don't want to complain about? I'm trying to be as delicate as I can in asking you what you're actually into... not NOT into. I may be alone on this one but I'd like to see more things that you like and want to share with the Vancouver Community.

Sean likes Pino. In fact, I think Sean LOVES Pino. And Budgies Burritos.

i generally think cops are ok, though there's no doubt that the bad apples tend to hold more share than they should in the relatively sized barrel. i think the pt Sean is trying to make is that there's a lot of shit that people and media happily sweep under the carpet, and somebody's gotta do otherwise. If doing so is called "complaining" then such is life.

And there is good stuff to say about that stuff too, ie. PIVOT society. Maybe Sean'll write about something like that someday.

Are you complaining about me complaining? Are you criticising my identity while yourself remaining anonymous?

Okay, so I've given your query some consideration. But let us look at it only in the context of Beyond Robson: I have written about Kevin House, Happy Accidents, Swarm6, The Vancouver Art Gang, Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association, Save Saint Pauls, The attempt to extradite Marc Emery, a man named Ross who was killed by a drunk driver, and empowering women via Take Back the Night. I have complained about the Nike Barge, The Province's letter to the editor regarding drug addicts, the Province calling to axe the gas tax, and Hurricane Katrina.
Upon closer examination these are loafers. Sorry, simpson's attack. Upon further inspection, i think you'll see that the weight of my articles are favourable in tone. Please reconsider. Love Sean

remember not too be too objective; it's like any other body of the work force: there are the good and the bad (and the ugly). it's not a cop's job to be friendly, and if you had to deal with the amount of shit that they day in and day out, you'd probably, at one point in your lives or another, become miserable and uncivilized up to a certain breaking point. i've personally dealt with some nice cops, and gotten off many times. they aren't all as nice as serpico, or even as rational, but they are at least out there risking their asses for us dusk in and dusk out.
