Stretch out your hams and get ready for the perfect Halloween weekend warm up. As it always happens on the last Friday of every month, everyone who gets around on non-motorized wheels is invited to gather behind the Vancouver Art Gallery for the Critical Mass bike ride. Except that (duh) this is the Halloween gig. So it's not just you and your bike, baby. It's Superman on his Canadian Tire Supercycle! It's Little Orphan Annie on a Schwinn! Thompson and Thompson on a tandem. And... could it be? Yes! It's Paris Hilton, soaring down Robson street like it's everyone's business!

Anyhow. Everyone's meeting between 5 and 6, with the ride leaving at 6. Be prepared to see costumes, kids, and things you're not sure that kids should see. Be prepared to see a couple hundred riders. Be prepared to hold up traffic and annoy drivers. Be prepared for countless approving horns-a-honking too. Also, dress warm. Dress up. Dress down. Wear a dress.

The ride goes as long as people want it to, and wherever whoever's in front wants it to go. The crit mass gang think fast, but they don't ride fast. And nobody wants to hammer when you're wearing a fun-fur outfit anyhow.
