Parade of the Lost Souls: Cancelled

Hey folks, sorry for the bad news, but I thought you should know that Parade of the Lost Souls is not taking place this year. The East Vancouver event drew 20,000 participants last year, but is on hiatus for this year and is scheduled to return next year.
Here it is straight from the horse's mouth (Gwen Carson, the Public Dreams Society Marketing and Communications Manager): "We wanted to have some time to redesign and retool the event so that it better suits the number of participants as well as the location. Also, after 13 successful years, we wanted to give our artistic team a chance to infuse the event with new expression and vibrancy."
Well that's the party line, anyhow. Keep your eyes peeled for other Halloween events on BR.com.

How the hell can you cancel a community event? Over 'design' issues!?? It's a bunch of people wearing halloween costumes walking around East Van. - more likely it's cancelled because the Public Dreams Society is having some sort of an internal power struggle..
