Break Free

Saturday will be a nice day for you to take a nice walk along Robson. Sunny weather? Not on your life, but there will be djs, mcs, and rainbuckets of breakdancers. Break Free, a break dance competition is taking place at Robson Subterannean Square (by the VAG). It's gonna be smokin'! Or anti-smokin', I should say. Break Free is an event promoting clean lungs and kicking the habit. It's put on by Students Working Against Tabacco (SWAT). Boy, you can really tell (cough cough) that someone's trying really hard to make not smoking "cool". Which it is. But somehow when not smoking is the very reason you're having your dance-off... (ahem), well sorry, it just doesn't seem that "cool".

Regardless, you should show up and bust your moves if you wanna get your slippery fingers on some of the prize cash. Or if you just want to tune in to the tunes, be sure not to miss Emotionz, the BC freestyle champ. His linguistic stylings are sure to be more defined than his cluttered website. Sherri St Germain & Tino Zolfo, and Josh Martinez will also be there, popping Halls between tracks.

Come one, come all, bring your family, friends, and Nicorette patches! This could be a prime event to make uncool "cool". First cigarettes, next bike helmets, acne, and cell phones. It all starts here, ladies and gentlemen.
