Psychogeography

012606_Man-versus-Nature.jpgPsychogeography is the study of hidden or non hidden elements of the urban landscape that evoke emotion or ideas, as opposed to participating in the spectacle of commerce. It is a non-commodifiable component of our environment, be it an image that invokes some randomn thought, or a physical object that is not somewhere it should be; an anomoly. It can be a smell or a sound. It can be the way people react to their surroundings. Here is a good example.

Anyways, this picture is of a place that not many people no of. In my world it would be the biggest tourist attraction in Vancouver, but I'm sure somebody thinks its an eyesore. I think it is magic. Keep reading to see a larger version...

This is behind the White Spot on Georgia street. I don't know how long this has been here, long enough for a full grown tree to grow entirely through a chain link fence. Go there. Go and marvel at the awesome power of nature. In a thousand years, when we have choked on our own exhaust, nature will have erased all evidence of our existence. We are nothing.
