A little more nourishing than a gingerbread house, CANstruction Vancouver brings together teams of creative individuals in order fight hunger. The idea is that local companies donate tins of cans and non-perishable goods, which teams then build into amazing sculptures.

Last year local design company Industrial Brand Creative won top prize of Jurors' Favorite, as well as the Peoples' Choice award, with their rendition of Snoopy on his doghouse. Check out their site to see what actually goes into the making of one of these structures.

Details after the jump.

Not too shabby. From the CANstruction site:
Since the inaugural event in 2003, Canstruction Vancouver has raised more than 355,000 cans of food for Food Bank shelves. Metropolitan Fine Printers, the founding sponsor, wishes to congratulate each of the companies, volunteers and sponsors who have contributed to this proud history....we hope to break the HALF A MILLION mark in our 2006 event!

Details:
March 5th - 12th in the cruise ship terminal at Canada Place. The theme for 2006 is "Play Time".
Admission is free but a donation for the Food Bank would certainly be in order.
