How safe do you feel? Do you live with the nagging concern that there are terrorists amongst us, preparing at this very moment an attack on our freedoms? Are you deeply disappointed with the Canadian government for refusing to support the United States on it's mission to liberate Iraq? Are you aghast with the hypocrisy in this country which refuses to kill people who, in your mind, are clearly evil and yet sanctions the murder of innocent, unborn babies? Do you secretly believe that our decadent society has fostered the phenomenon of homosexuality and that this aberration should not be further indulged by society? Do you know in your heart that Adam and Eve walked the earth, and were the original humans, as was told by the bible, a text that has existed for thousands of years, whatever the meddling of modern science? Do you believe that politicians should be given better financial support from taxpayers?

Well then your heart is probably warmed by the knowledge that Stockwell Day is not only back in action, but has now been appointed Minister of Public Safety.

"Homosexuality is a mental disorder that can be cured through counseling."

- Stockwell Day, February of 1992, quoted in Alberta Report.

"God's law is clear: standards of education are not set by government, but by God, the Bible, the home and the school."

- Stockwell Day, the Conservative Party's Foreign Affairs critic, in Alberta Report magazine, 1984.

"Women who become pregnant through rape or incest should not qualify for government-funded abortions unless their pregnancy is life-threatening."

- Stockwell Day, 1995, at an Alberta Conservative party convention.

"Gun control responsibilities are taking police officers off the street and adding to crime."

- Stockwell Day, at an anti-gun control talk in Ontario's cottage country, 2000

"As a Christian, I acknowledge the lordship of Jesus Christ over the whole universe ... I believe that the Bible is the infallible word of God and every word in it, cover to cover, is true."

- Stockwell Day, 1998

Further, "When he (Stock) was questioned as to why his party did not offer condolences to the Palestinians when Yasser Arafat died Stock responded by sending out a column by David Frum that speculated that Yasser died of AIDS."

Are you beginning to feel safer yet?

Ah Stock. I lived in Kelowna when he was the MP/party leader over in Peachland/Westbank. First class idiot. A friend of mine threw fruit at his campaign bus.

Problem is people believe the shit he sells, so he stays in business. Harper moved him into the background a bit (he rightly would have been in charge of Foreign Affairs since he was the FA critic in the shadow government) since Harper has to convince the rest of Canada that it's not a party of nut jobs.

Hopefully Stock will take the ball and run with it and tank the PC's relelection bid.

Then you must have blocked out the sight of Stockwell Day in a wet suit arriving in Peachland on a jet ski.

I remember Stockwell from his early days in Alberta where I grew up. First class idiot doesn't go far enough...

I'd feel safer with Stockwell at the bottom of the ocean.
