Is the reason it's illegal to
eat chicken with a fork in
Gainesville, Georgia because
it's better with a bun?

If there are single cheese-
burgers and double cheese-
burgers, do the single cheese-
burgers get lonely?

Apparently part of McDonald's "Balanced active lifestyles initiatives" and as good corporate citizens of the world, someone had the bright idea to buy an advertisement wrapper around each Metro paper that was handed out on Monday, April 24th; Earth Day. Each paper handed out by those nice people on the street in their pleasant green aprons, and each of the papers that were discarded on public transit and scattered around bus shelters; each of these papers had an extra, colour addition in the form of a single sheet advertisement for McDonalds.

"Come celebrate Earth Day by eating a healthy double chees burger!"

At first it appeared to be a normal front page photo like you'd see on any other of the tabloid papers, but the piece on the back bore the mark of the beast itself; the Golden Arches. An added four pages of colour advertising added to the detritus rather than a front page story about helping farmers protect the environment (after May 15 2006, that link may go away; visit the WWF for more info), or about any of the events happening world wide.

Check out this PDF with a couple interesting ideas on making every day Earth Day. I'm feeling the need to buy some granola and start using one of the local organic grocery delivery services like Small Potatoes. It would save me having to find my way to the local, non-organic markets at least...

More Georgia trivia in addition to that chicken with a fork ban...

Zombies? Wow... that's just mean; those people work HARD for their corporate overlords, and it's the only job many of them can get... shame.

:D

I'm pretty sure Earth Day is April 22nd, not 24th.

Hmmm... you are correct, it is on the 22nd. I was hearing the stories of a number of schools doing their activities on the monday following, so I must have confused the dates.

Though, since METRO doesn't publish on Saturday I'd suggest that Monday should have been thier Earth Day issue...
