Six Nations

Oops, you can't stay on top of everything. I never heard of the Six Nations Solidarity march until I saw it yesterday, 200 or so people heading down Robson. Here's a brief synopsis:
1. People standing up for something they believe in, even if the event itself is way out in Ontario: Good.
2. Speaking out against violence: Good.
3. Speaking out against injustice against First Nations people: Good.
4. Healthy and balanced mix of First Nations and non-First Nations folk represented: Good.
5. Information pamphlets handed out: Good.
6. Information in pamphlets is a bit dubious, raising questions contrary to the cause: Not So Good.
Personally, I don't know if the Six Nations gang have the legal goods to pull this one off, though it does stand to remind us of our Oh Canada, Our home on Native's land. Oh sure, you get mad about the neighbour who steals your grandfather's Globe and Mail, but you don't often think about how us immigrants trampled on Natives' property rights and freedoms. But hey, how were we supposed to know that them redskins were actually human beings?
