Commercial Drive Car Free Festival

Yo, it's time for Commercial Drive Car-Free Festival, Vancouver's biggest bestest free-est block partaaaay. On one hand some people get tired of East Van-ers talkin' bout community all the time, but this Sunday is the time when East Van proves how awesome community can be. This festival pushes the limits of what Grass Roots and DIY can accomplish. They'll have 4 performance stages chock full of all sorts of music, with a healthy doses of reggae, dancehall, hiphop, slam poetry, and international tunes. Hooey, just looking at the stage line ups gets me pumped. Last year's East Van Chopperfest (with pedal-powered soundsystem) are back to kick up more mayhem and hilarity. Show up early if you wanna squeeze onto the pedal-powered tank.
There's also gonna be some new World Cup Zone, for all you football enthusiasts. Bands will be playing to support their countries' teams, and there'll be some Vancouver Smurf Caps kickin' around too.

It'll be sensory overload reminiscent of your hallucinogen days! It'll be political activism like your mom's college years! There'll be partyin' like your 7th birthday! Geez people, what more can I say to convince you that if this party's anything like last year's, it'll roll.
Speaking of which, please roll in on non-motorized wheels (buses a-ok, of course). Didja catch the name of the party? CAR-FREE. 'Cause even though people like cars and use them, it's still important to recognize that there's something special about reclaiming the space that cars constantly monopolize. Dancing in the streets or driving? Duh!
