Person Of The Week - Faye Leung

I met with a little piece of Vancouver/Canadian history at SFU Harbor Center today. It was Faye Leung, the famous hat lady that who brought Premiere Bill Vanderzalm down.

Faye was dressed in vintage clothing, beautiful jade jewelry and a vibrant, pink sequined hat and matching shoes. She looked very nice. We had a good chat. She brought photos and enough material to fill a book for me to read. It contained many accounts of her lifetime experiences. And there are a great number of them. We spoke a little about the incident with Vanderzalm, but we mostly spoke about her other accomplishments and some stuff she is working on right now. Faye has collected literally a mountain of documents, stories and photos. Which are temporally in storage at this time. She is planning to turn the information and these documents into books and a mini TV series of the history of Chinese people in Canada. Should be amazing. I will keep you up to date with her progress.

What is a major issue affecting Vancouver's citizens right now?
Chinese $1000$ head tax. An era forgotten. Three generations of Chinese citizens that contributed to Canada were treated so unfairly.

August moon.

What are some of the best things about Vancouver?
Still beautiful even though they are digging it up pretty good.

What are the worst?
The best, beautiful, air and water are all gone. Still better air quality than China or LA.

What do you do about Vancouver's rainy days?
Liquid sunshine. Keeps the place green. Turn lemons into Lemonade!
