Rain Rain, Don't Go Away

People think I'm crazy, but nearly every morning this summer, I've woken up thinking, "Please. Please let it rain today." I can't help it. I am sick of this infernal sunshine. Sick. Of. It. Which is why I was overjoyed today when I woke up to grey skies.
This isn't about drought. It's not about the environment (though maybe it should be). It's just about the relentless, summer sun. On one hand, I know I should be happy with the blue skies thing we've had going on, but on the other, can't a girl ask for a little variety? I mean, sunshine is hard to appreciate when you get it every day. Particularly when you're stuck working most of the time, and all the sun is really doing for you is beating in the windows, making you jealous of people who have time for the beach, and giving you a headache (ahem).
The truth is, I've been living in Vancouver for a good four years now (and I spent summers here before that) and I feel like I've been a victim of false advertising. Everyone told me it was going to rain. A lot. They said stuff like "You're moving to Vancouver? Better pack your galoshes! (Ha, Ha, Guffaw.)"
Big fat liars, the lot of them.
So, as said, today, the lovely greyness of the sky put me in a really great mood. Alas, it is not to last. According to radio news station 1130, Environment Canada officials are saying that today is but a brief reprieve from the twenty-nine day dry spell that officially began on August 11th. Tomorrow, the stupid sun returns. There's no end in sight.

Oh boy I totally agree. I wish to God that sun would go away. So damn hot. Milk was a bad choice.
