I've only known about the Christmas LIght display since I moved to the West End two years ago. Some may say it's garish and I agree but I love it. Apparently, a lot of people do too because as I raced against time to pick up a pair of trousers from the drycleaner's (I lost miserably) I noticed enough people to block the Helmecken's intersection into Burrard and then some. There were a few film crews too.

If I hadn't been overly optimisic about my pants I would have hung around to see the lights go on but I ran off. However, once I hit Davie I was able to see some fireworks and all the lights went on at once. Definitely garish but lovely all at once.
