It's The Small Things That Matter: Community Grants in Mt Pleasant

20060327_commgarden.jpgIf you live in Mount Pleasant and you''ve ever pondered the possibility of heading up a community project, you should definitely check out the website for the Neighbourhood Small Grants Project. This is a great funding initiative that aims to strengthen community ties in Mt Pleasant by providing grants from $50-$500 to groups of neighbours who want to work together to make their neighbourhood a better place. The money can be used for anything from community gardens to block parties, art fairs to shared playgrounds, and projects that aim to preserve and celebrate your area's cultural and ethnic heritage. More ideas are listed on their website, or you can use your imagination to come up with something amazing that suits your specific neighbourhood.

The application deadline is April 30th, 2007 for projects taking place between June and October. Application forms are available online and in person at Mt Pleasant Neighborhood house (800 East Broadway) or Little Mountain Neighborhood House (3981 Main St). For more info, please visit their website or contact the Project Coordinator at 604.879.7166 ext 375.
