Passport Saga: The Addendum

2007_05_25_passport.jpgAfter much ado and fuss over the excruciatingly long lines at the passport office this year, it looks like the neck of the bottle is finally being widened.

As of Wednesday, May 23rd, three more Lower Mainland federal offices are accepting passport applications. This is good news for anyone who is planning an international summer vacation or who is itching to charge south to hit the outlet malls with their unusually valuable Canadian dollars.

This all set the stage for an impeccably-timed and definitive close to my own passport saga. I was sifting through a sizeable stack of CDs and DVDs beside my computer, looking for some pirated episodes of Deadwood, when what should I come across? You got it. Christ, all that hassle for nothing. At least now I know that nobody's out there sashaying around the planet and causing trouble using my one-of-a-kind name.

good to hear!

i actually went to the sinclair centre location last week, expecting to be out in the line-up all day. got there at 530, with about 20 people ahead of me in line. at 630, a rep explains that a new procedure has been implemented, whereby applicants are assessed in the line-up before the office actually opens. i had my documents copied around 645, was herded into a waiting area, and was out by 735, five minutes after the office actually opened.

not bad! and a day off from work on top of that!
