Don't Miss the Last Winter Farmers Market of the Year

20080425_farmersmarket.jpgThis Saturday, from 10:00am - 2:00pm at WISE Hall (1882 Adanac Street at Victoria Drive), will be your last chance to buy fresh, locally grown fruit and vegetables from the Winter Farmers Market. I'll be there, stocking up on everything I can get my hands on. You can check out the list of vendors here.

If you can't make it out on Saturday, don't despair. The first summer market starts May 17th. Head to http://www.eatlocal.org/ for more information.

Those in the southern suburbs may like to know that starting May 4, Steveston is hosting its first Farmer's Market! It will go every Sunday until Septembr 28, from 11-4pm, in the parking lot beside the Gulf of Georgia Cannery-- 4th avenue and Chatham streets.

As a Richmond resident, I'm excited that this is finally happening. Richmond is historically an important agricultural community and this event shows that we may be getting back to our roots and celebrating our local farmers.
