Dare Wear's Despair

It always seems so obvious to me if a business is going to be successful or fail miserably. For example, I knew that the comic book store and tattoo parlour on Kingsway were going to be folding by then end of their first financial quarter. I was so right. And I correctly speculated that the tanning salon where my sister used to work would be done by the new year.
Sometimes I'm wrong. Like, I thought that Golden Spray store (it specializes in unstylish women's clothing) on West Broadway would fold within weeks and more than two years later it's still around, albeit with a different name. But, I'm glad to be wrong because it's so sad to think that someone just invested his life savings into a bad idea. It just sucks!

No one has a more gripping stronghold on my sympathy as Dare Wear. Part of it is because I saw the owner pushing his baby in her little stroller when I was there last but the main reason is that setting up shop on the Granville strip was a good idea. The intersection of Granville and Robson is a perfect place to put a store with colourful shirts and short skirts. Between Winners, Used, Fluevog's, Underworld, Mantique, it is a perfect addition. Or so it seemed. Less than two months in and they're already advertising that everything is 60% off and there's a little sign in the window stating that they have store fixtures on sale.

Ladies! Please go there and buy something. Their clothes are cute and fun and now that they're 60% off (just in case you didn't notice that's more than half off). If you like the stuff that Golden Spray carries then maybe Dare Wear won't be your thing but if you like bright shirts that show off your figure, ruffled skirts and slinky dresses then it totally will.
You'll find Dare Wear right in front of Fluevog's (where David Madden used to be).

Good job at finding some of Vancouver's little hidden secrets Detective Ariadna. I'm going to do some investigating of Dare Wear myself tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up.
