Let the Madness Begin

On Christmas eve I was hanging out with my little sister and her friend at our mum's and they both called me a "pinner" and I rolled my eyes and said, "Yeah, whatev!" And they were like, "Serious!" And I was all like, "Listen ladies, do not call me a pinner because I am so fat it's lethal" and they were like, "No, Ariadna, you're tiny" so then I retorted with some more self-deprecating comments but finally they convinced me that I'm still ultra skinny so I did what most other girls would do in that situation, I dedicated the next 48 hours to eating. Good times.
But then this morning I felt like my ass was a mile wide and my sister and her friend weren't around to tell me otherwise so I went to the gym. Usually it's impossible for me to leave my apartment for the sole purpose of working out but today it was easy because I knew I could spice up my outing by strolling down Granville on the way there and Robson on the way back.
Now, I can have my materialistic and flaky moments but don't think I wanted to take those routes because I wanted to partake in the Boxing Day madness, I just wanted to observe it. Unfortunately I forgot my camera at home so I can't share the experience but let me just tell you, Vancouver loves to shop.
Granville street was surprisingly dead. I only passed by three line-ups, adidas, Aldo and Underworld. I couldn't pass up the adidas line-up because I got a gift certificate for my birthday (everything is about 40 - 50% off). Have I ever mentioned I love adidas? I love adidas. On the way back (around 17.00) I walked down Robson and that was ridiculous. Not only were the stores teeming with people, the coffee shops and restaurants were packed. Actually, I think the longest line-up I saw was at the Blenz on Robson and Burrard. I popped into Zara and Guess? and within seconds I popped right back out again. Swarms! And aggressive ones at that!
The line-ups for B2 and French Connection were hilarious (I didn't know people even liked FCUK) and El Kartel (best shop on Robson) and Buffalo had a tonne of people waiting to get in. Surprisingly Lululemon wasn't packed to the gills.
Just a quesiton: What kind of girl takes her boyfriend shopping? And what kind of mother takes her toddler Boxing Day shopping? Seems completely pointless and, actually, totally counterproductive. And you have to feel sorry for the chump that's walking around Aritzia; arm piled high with the latest TNA track suit, in every colour but of course.
It didn't take long for me to get fed up with everything and make my way home. Instead of trying to squeeze past all the shoppers on the sidewalk I paraded my shopping-bagless ass on the road. Tomorrow I might attempt to walk down Robson again, this time I promise to take my camera so we can make fun of everyone.
Happy one-year anniversary Jen!
