Boxing Week Sales in Gastown
The presents have been opened, the stockings unstuffed, and if (unlike me) you're really ahead of the game, the tree has been undecorated and tossed in the bin with the yard clippings. The madness that is Boxing Day is over and gone, and everyone in the city is gearing up for New Year's Eve.
Whether you need a sparkly party dress or some strappy shoes, Boxing Week is the time to get life's little necessities (or frivolities) without breaking the bank. Luckily for us, there are a lot of amazing sales happening in and around Vancouver:
Gastown seems to be a hotspot for great Boxing Week sales. At dutil, "Vancouver's only denim emporium", save up to 50% off men's and women's denim from December 26-29. dutil stocks high-end denim labels like Rock & Republic, paperdenim&cloth, Citizens of Humanity, True religion, Notify, Frankie B and more. Enter in store (350 Cordova St) to win a $250 gift certificate, and bring in your old denim to receive a $10 credit towards your purchase. Contest ends December 31.
At the east end of Water St, Komakino can be found in the basement of 1 Alexander St (look for the silver sandwich board). Vancouver's only guerrila shopping experience, this store changes its location every 6-12 months. Their sale started on Boxing Day, with 30-70% off avante-garde menswear from Raf Simons, Ann Demeulemeester, Yohji Yamamoto, Costume National, Darkshadow by Rick Owens and Vivienne Westwood, among others.
Obakki is also holding a sale from Dec 26-31. Located at 44 Water St, their flagship store is the place to go for innovative designs for men and women who know the value of cool, clean lines and impeccable tailoring. All of their collections are designed and manufactured in Vancouver by a collective of independent designers.
If you're in need of some sleek, modern home furnishings or decor, Inform Interiors, currently at 97 Water St, will be holding a moving sale on January 5th and 6th, 2007 - with all furnishings, lighting and accessories priced at up to 80% off.
