H&M Vancouver Hiring

hm_logo_print.gifSo it looks like Heather will be getting her wish for an H&M store. After *years* of rumours it appears H&M is finally heading westward. Girls and guys alike from the east have been enjoying this European powerhouse of affordable designer clothing.

They currently have postings on monster.com for the Vancouver store opening in Fall 2007 so it'll probably be another year before it comes, but at least it looks like there is a set date for sure. They're hiring for store managers, department managers, merchandisers etc. You can check it out at monster's job listings.

I have mixed feelings about having a H&M store here in Vancouver. It used to be my joy on my numerous trips to Toronto to pick up low cost and stylish items that weren't available here. Although these trips are far less frequent now and it'll be convenient to have an H&M store here in Vancouver, it'll also mean there will be tons of people wearing the same things. We all want to be unique right? I suppose it's for the better. YES! H&M

Sweet lord baby jesus. Unique Shmunique. That's the stuff of optimistic 17 year olds.

This is the best news I've heard all day.

I think H&M, and even Urban Outfitters, opening up will be a good thing. You're more likely to wear the same things but there will always be a large faction sticking to their goretex and yogawear. Vancouver mainstream fashion needs a dose of east coast.

I just braved the boxing week crowds in the Toronto H&M yesterday and bought a few things that my Toronto friends said they'd never wear cuz it was "too H&M" as in everyone has them. Well luckily I live in Vancouver I said.

So yeah, there's that downfall, but I'm glad that finally a trip to H&M won't cost me airfare in the future.

Fantastic. Although it has to come to Vancouver when I'm travelling to Europe in the fall of '07. But then I'll have H&M at every city in my fingertips. I think Urban Outfitters and H&M coming to Vancouver finally singals a new wave of affordable trendy fashions coming to the city. Enough of Lululemon and North Face. No more shitty Le Chateau and Urban Behaviour. Onto the real thing!

I've been wishing for an H&M for years...finally!!!! I get my wish.

And I agree with Mark - enough with Lulu and North Face! Even though there will be a ton of people wearing the same H&M clothes, at least they will be a fresh change from the yogawear, fleece jackets and crappy Urban Behavior clothes. I swear if I see another black poufy hooded jacket with fur trim I am going to scream.

H&M is not east coast ;).... I was in Sweden in Oct and they are about as common there as Starbucks here. I bought a lot cause I knew nobody here would recognize it, but still, this is awesome news.

Funny how the first H&M location will be in Coquitlam and not downtown. (I'm sure a Robson location will pop up within a year.) The nice thing about H&M is the different selection from one country to another (I was in Germany & Sweden) and they had pieces that would not fly in Canada. Still, it means my last H&M visit will be in Montreal in May... then it's time to look for a new source of uniqueness!
