LAMade and Cheap Monday at Jonathan + Olivia

Yesterday after work I made a detour to SoMa on my way home. I stopped in at Jonathan + Olivia to ask about their Boxing Day Sale, and found that it had already started!

I just had to pick up another LAMade teeshirt. Their soft modal cotton makes it very difficult to go back to wearing anything else. On sale for just $32, I couldn't pass them by. I ended up with a simple white cap-sleeved tee that is superlong and goes great with skinny jeans.

Speaking of skinny jeans, I also picked up two pairs of Cheap Monday "Tight" skinnies - one in black, and one in a soft charcoal grey. I've been coveting them for a while, and once I saw them I had to have them. Although they weren't on sale, they might as well have been! For $75 each, I bought two pairs for less than the sale price of a higher-end brand. The fit is divine - high waisted and slim cut with just the right amount of stretch, these babies fit like a glove in all the right places - with a nice long inseam for scrunching at the ankle.

I don't know what the prob is with my body but there isn't one pair of flattering skinny jeans for me. Any tips?

Skinny jeans can be tricky to wear, depending on your body type. Unless you've got the body of a 14-year old boy, most people's assets look best in denim with a dark, uniform wash (no whiskers or fading), large, low-set back pockets and a medium rise.

A great alternative to the tapered leg skinny jean is a more forgiving cigarette leg jean, which still has the skinny silhouette but isn't quite as calf-hugging. If you're worried about lumps and bumps, I'd also recommend a jean with minimal stretch to hold everything in place. My favorite choice that combines all these features is Nudie Jeans' Super Slim Kim, or Slim Kim styles (available at Lark 8th Avenue and The Block).

Unfortunately, when shopping for new jeans, the only way to find the pair that's right for you is to try, try and try again. Commit yourself to spending at least an hour in the changeroom until you find the one that makes you think "Damn, I look good!"

Then buy three pairs.
