What's In Store at Holt Renfrew

05282007_holts.jpgIn case you haven't cruised through Pacific Centre, the old Holt Renfrew space has now closed and the big move is underway.

The new store will span over 130,000 square feet of retail shopping bliss. The architectural firm who designed the new flagship store, Janson Goldstein LLP, is credited to the luxurious Saks, Salvatore Ferragamo, Armani (Emporio and Xchange), and more.

Read on for highlights on the new space.

When the new store opens May 31st, you'll find:

-personal shopping suites

-World Design Lab - upcoming, cutting edge designers in an area that's merchandised differently

-holt's spa and salon - covering two of the three floors, featuring a fragrance department, hair salon and colour studio, and traditional spa services

-holt's cafe - a rooftop fine dining restaurant

Patti Labelle and Dave Navarro are two of the celebrity guests attending the invite-only opening party on June 5th. If you're into star-gazing, head down to the new location as guests arrive on the "magenta-carpet."

I heard about the World Design Lab and was totally excited! Can't wait to see the new & improved HR.

Patti Labelle and Dave Navarro are the celebrity guests? You're kidding, right? Weak...

It's fashion news. Some people like to know about this stuff.

I don't make enough money to be excited about a new Holt Renfrew, let alone "personal shopping suites". Oh, to have too much money and questionable tastes!

Is the Pacific Center on Robson? I think it might be.

The restaurant is supposedly not going to be ready for the 31st.

Hmm, I wonder what's up with the restaurant delay. Where did you hear that Mark?

And Scott: while we do occasionally write on worthy topics/places/stores on Robson, the bulk of Pacific Center runs along Howe from Robson all the way to Pender. But the main Holt's entrance will actually be on Dunsmuir, as I noted in the initial post.

The Province is reporting that the restaurant is expected to open in September.

Although I can't afford to shop there on a regular basis (and I don't think I would, due to their pitiful casual/streetwear offerings, in my opinion- do people still wear Juicy Couture?!) I hope that this store will be on par with other cities' upscale shopping institutions (Harrods, Galleries Lafayette, Neiman Marcus, Barneys etc.)

Even if you can't afford to shop at Holt Renfrew (or Leone, or other high-end, big attitude places), it's fun to just go in there and make the staff follow you around. They have poverty-radar on the job requirements.

Can afford, can't afford or whatever, HR is on my "drunk shopping" list. Get drunk and shop, that's right! Crack jokes with the staff, poke fun at customers, have no fear in pulling shirts from the bottom of the pile messing all of them up and then enjoy accidentily knocking Prada coats to the floor and wheelchair over them. Can't wait to hit the new spot! Is the new restaurant licensed?
