Fashion: For the Glove Of It
Even a dismally dank Sunday afternoon won't keep me away from the possibility of reliving a past I never knew. On Sunday, I strapped on my umbrella and my floral rubber boots (reminiscent of a children's birthday card from the 70s) and made my way to the Croatian Cultural Centre for the Retro Design & Antiques Fair.

Five times a year, 175 dealers come together at the CCC to showcase their wares, ranging from vintage tea cups to army memorabilia to evening gowns. You'll find a wealth of information too - these people really know their stuff. One nice lady I got chatting to is going to phone and remind me about the next fair (aww, how kind!) on December 2nd from 10am-3pm. There's food, lots of interesting things to see, and of course just a little hint of nostalgia in the air.
I was in the market for some gloves, like the cute leather ones seen in Marc Jacobs' Fall 2007 collection. What I came away with were some gorgeously long burgundy cotton knit gloves that I'm absolutely mad about. They're the perfect accompaniment to one of my winter coats with 3/4 sleeves. (Coincidentally, I also bought a burgundy satin cushion with a cream poodle crocheted onto it). Including the $4 entry fee I spent a grand total of $15. Not bad for an afternoon of time travel. And some seriously sexy new gloves.

Those... are lovely.
I've been lusting after a pair of long red leather gloves at Spank, but at $55 they're a bit pricey for such a decadent purchase.
