Spend on Trend Vancouver is Back!
Let's face it, we all like to consider ourselves savvy shoppers. Whether it's buying local in one of Van's favorite boutiques or pulling the chicest vest out of the $5 bin at the local thrift shop, finding a one of a kind item is always an ego booster.
Now, however, we can avoid the exhausting and tedious act of scouring every last rack in the store by attending Vancouver's very own Spend on Trend. The event, taking place September 5-7 at Scotia Bank Dance Centre, will feature 24 vendors from all over the country showcasing their latest and trendiest designs. If buying local and supporting your friendly, neighborhood designer is part of a recent attempt to be a better Vancouverite, this would probably be your chance to make good on that promise.
From bags to boots, dresses to denim, Spend on Trend Vancouver 2008 will be the first chance to buy Fall's latest fashions. Tickets to the event are $5 and can be conveniently bought at the door. $1 from each ticket is also donated to the St. Elizabeth Home Emergency Shelter for Women and Children (and who said shopping is selfish?). For the keeners out there, the first 25 people in the door receive a free gift bag valuing over $50.

I wish half of the 'designers' in town would take better care in constructing and sewing their items. The programs being offered should be taught better as well.
I also wish they wouldn't try to pawn off something as new, when its been copied off the web or from something they've seen on a hostel living trip to Europe. Its not fooling anyone and then just affects their sales. Since the 80's it seems they always try and go for the shock value which these days is less and less effective.
I also wish the majority of 'stylists' from Holt Renfrew and beyond would kick their meth habit, smile more and if they show up to a party, actually socialize.
Its pathetic how easy they are to point out at events/clubs. They show up with ten friends in cheap tshirts, junk jewelry, bad jeans and worse shoes. Then sit around and pout all night cause no one is paying the attention to them they think they deserve. And on top of that don't drink (even water) as its obvious they can't really afford to be there, especially when eviction notices from their shared accommodation hang over their heads.
Less snorting might help you save for those luxury goods (the real stuff), you wish you could afford.
