UBC Student Film Fundraiser
Pump up the lights, pump up the volume! UBC film students present the POV Fundraiser tonight, featuring multiple entertainments to tickle your fancy.
Headlining the evening is Christer, pictured right, (also listen to tracks on her MySpace page), preceded by The Painted Birds, another local group. I read a little rumor on MySpace events that Christer will be accompanied by dancers during her performance, but my last-minute attempts to contact the organizers failed to confirm this delicious rumor...
While I have seen neither Christer nor The Painted Birds perform, their popularity among locals is evident and I'm quite excited to catch them both live tonight. Christer is dubbed a "solo electro diva" on her MySpace page and the tracks left me itching to boogey.
If two promising musical acts weren't enough to entice you down to the Lamplighter this eve, you can also expect interactive light shows, multimedia and film projections to weave their way into the night. You may want to bust out that old can of hairspray, with so much going on here tonight your head will spin. Oh yeah, there will also be a "Local Art" booth where you can meet artists, buy and create art, or let Marvin use your face as a canvas.
Yes kids, there's face painting too.
Lamplighter is at 210 Abbott, doors at 8pm / show at 9.
Tickets are $12 in advance at Zulu Records and Scrape Records / $15 at the door.
(If you are unfortunate enough to miss the show tonight, check back here for a review of the night's happenings for your future reference.)

I did attend the show - turns out Christer was the opener, not the headliner, and she was accompanied by a couple of hard-working dancers. My general verdict on the event is that it was interesting but lacked the maturity I expected.
If anyone is interested in the happenings of the night just leave a comment to that effect and I'll be happy to post a review.
