Transit Photo Contest Winner

Posted by Peter / June 5, 2007

20070605_spclarke.jpgAbove is In Transit , by sp_clarke, winner of our Transit themed photo contest sponsored by Zipcar.

Dramatic, with sharp angles and staccato lines, and a ghostly figure waiting on the platform. Like a noirish sci-fi.

20070605_zipcar.gifFor his efforts sp_clarke wins a $100 gift certificate to The Wolf and Hound. His bonus prize comes straight from the catwalks of Paris and Milan--a super fresh Beyond Robson t-shirt! Haute stuff.

It was a close call between our top 4 finalists. See their photos after the jump...

Our runners-up, in no particular order:

20070605_azeru.jpg
Untitled by Arezu

There's a compelling story being captured here. Arezu layers the subtext and finds a conveniently eerie two-light set up.

My favorite picture by Lena_Dee

This photo immediately made me smile. It's a young Clementine from Eternal Sunshine... and her little sister on their way to school in late October.

Leaving Waterfront by sillygwailo

Perhaps a more optimistic version of the long-exposure Skytrain shot.

Matt will return this week to post the next photo feature. Much thanks to our judges, to our sponsors, and to all our entrants. Keep your cameras clicking and stay tuned for our next Photo Contest.

I like them all, but I have to say Lena_Dee's photo is my fave. Her expression is really interesting.

The flickr link goes to the Leaving Waterfront photo though...

I've fixed Lena Dee's link. Thanks, Scott.

Wow - just found out I won. Thanks very much! I love the other photos; Arezu's for the cinematic slice of life, Lena Dee's for the wonderful moment, and sillygwailo's for the dynamics. These contests are great if only to see so many creative interpretations of a theme.
Looking forward to my free bangers and mash washed down with a pint or two of Guiness. Thanks again!
