Pictures from the Pool: Riding

So here we are with another edition of Pictures from the Pool, where this time, I feature a couple of neat fast shutter speed photos from the seemingly endless BR Flickr Group. Coincidentally, both feature people riding things, and both (completely unintentionally) are taken near my old 'hood of East Van.
I'm loving the great job on the horsie photo on the left, where you can just see the raw power being generated, especially emphasized with the striations in the muscles. Even with the background blur from brilliant pan shot, you can make out the grain elevator of New Brighton Park, and the blueish green mountains synonymous with North in this city. Fantastic "rule-of-thirds" composition and great colours make this photograph really stand out to me. The photgrapher, elvis_hitler2000 is a regular on the BR Flickr site, and can be found in "Helta, BC", eating his favourite cheeses while reading a nice dose of Hemmingway.
On the next one, everyone's favourite House look-alike, Mark Klotz makes this extreme BMX biker seem like he's been taking some Powerthirst. The well executed crop in Sweet Jumps captures the rider in mid-air over what seems to me like the intersection of Hastings and Boundary, making it seem like he's gettin' more air than the Hellevator in the background. I've been following Mark Klotz for a while on Flickr as he does his freelance photography thing, and he's easily one of the best contributors to our pool.
A big thanks goes out to these two deftly skilled photographers, and to everyone else who's added to the pic count on our Flickr site!
