Today I went to Churrolicious and had my first local churro and it was damn good. It was exactly what it should have been: crunchy, sweet and fatty. It was perfect actually.

I'm definitely not a connoisseur (and for that my ego thanks me) but I know my churros pretty well so you can esteem my opinion. And for six at $2.95 you can't go wrong. The price gets bumped by a buck if you want them to drizzle your churros with dulce de leche, chocolate or strawberry sauce. Coffee is fair trade and Jen says that she had the best hot chocolate EVER. Serious. I had a sip and it was pretty dope. It was very creamy and rich but I would have added a few packets of sugar to sweeten it up if it had been mine.

How it compares to Hola Churro! I have no idea but the fact that Hola Churro! opened up just a couple of months after Churrolicious debut and just a block away makes me not like them so much. Why not get your own 'hood?

But getting back to taste, I couldn't do a taste test because even though it was only 16.30 they were closed. Churrolicious is open until 23.00 - good hours. But they're closed on Mondays so beware!

And Churrolicious has a VERY cute site.

Churrolicious is the real deal. We discovered it last June during Greek Days and my husband, who is from Spain was in heaven. It tasted just like he remembers. Don't let the cheezy sign fool you.

New Mexican hot spot Hola Churro! (3066 West Broadway) has fast garnered a following for its muy auténtico hot chocolate (made with water). Owner Edgardo González imports his cacao beans, coffee, and spices from Mexico, roasting them in-house. Also on the menu are agua fresca, tortas, soups, sweet and savoury churros, and the original Caesar salad, courtesy the keeper of Tijuana restaurateur César Cardini’s original recipe.

Hi guys, since we are talking about the topic then let me talk about it. HolaChurro ! OMG they are the best. Nice warm place, Silver Store, Real Mexican food, and above all "the best churros and chocolate", did u knew they actually blend the chocolate materials in the place.

The chocolate... and i mean the real chocolate (not m&m's) is exactly what u can find in HolaChurro. But it is not the only thing u can find there, u can look for mexican food all over the city and u wont find... except HolaChurro !, they have real Mexican food!!!.

But dont belive "me"... go try them and see for yourself.

BTW they have a nice web too http://www.holachurro.com
