Davie Mongolian BBQ - DIY-style

I walk by the Davie Mongolian BBQl all the time and though it always looks enticing, what with the big grill and flipping and flopping of foodstuffs, I've never gone in until last week. I had two bowls ($9.95 for all you can eat!) and I filled it up with the best selection but I tell ya I've always been the worst when it comes to seasoning so OF COURSE even though they give you step by step instructions how to sauce your bowl so it will taste delicious I ended up with a bowl of bland. Bleh! Next time I will ask the chef to do the honours pretty please.
I was impressed with the selection. For ten bucks I could have filled my bowl full of beef or full of mushrooms and then gone for more. I would have thought that for such an ugly penny all there would have been onions, green peppers and sprouts and the unleanest cuts of cow.
So, the Mongolian BBQ is a damn good deal and a healthy one at that but do yourself a favour if you're as inept as I am when it comes to complementing the ingredients with sauces and get a pro to give you a hand. And whatever you do don't put a spoonful of the garlic sauce after your food's been cooked.

I have the same problem at Mongolian Grill (patronized one in Waterloo some 10 years back)! I'm a huge fan of tofu and broccoli and just one kind of sauce, quite afraid that adding another type would be an absolute trainwreck. I might give it another try now that I've been cooking more... better have them try something and it's bland than to make a huge pot at home and suffer the leftovers.
