Stilton Cheesecake - Like, Whoa!

Last night my dinner lasted four hours and I ate and drank for most of it. There were a few moments where I thought I might suffocate from all the goodness but I persevered and made it through all six courses and complementing glasses of liquor without losing a button or emitting a burp. *High five.*

It was all very, very delicious but I am not here to brag and I will not attempt to reminisce. I just want to tell you one thing: The Stilton cheesecake is like whoa.

Serious.

Totally serious.

A colleague at work had mentioned that he had tried the blue cheese cheesecake when he stayed at The Metropolitan a while back. Now, I'm no blue cheese fan- in fact, not only do I find it too pungent in taste and smell, ingesting even the slightest crumb makes my stomach turn - but there was just something about the idea of a blue cheese cheesecake that made my head spin and chin drop. It sounded so revolting and bizarre that it had to be delicious and I had to try it.

So I did yesterday. And it was even crazier than I thought. At first taste it is the creamiest cheesecake I've ever had - maybe flavoured lightly with vanilla - but then after swallowing I got this sensation along the sides of my tongue and that's the Stilton. Except instead of it being ripe and terse like blue cheese always is this time 'round it was lush. Really lush and totally melt-in-your-mouth. All I could say was, "Whoa" and "Cool." And then I promptly ate most of it even though I had just finished six courses - moderation has never been my forte.

Supposedly it's one of the two items on the menu that will never be removed so you've got time to check it out. I can't wait to go back.

The only thing preventing me from undisguised and vicious jealousy is the fact that I don't fancy cheesecake.

Which is too bad, because I really like blue cheese. Stinkylicious.

For someone who doesn't take very many chances with food, i am proud of you for seeing outside of your beans and rice box and going for such a oddity as blue cheese cheesecake. You must have been feeling extra adventurous that day. Way to go.
