Best Non-Homemade Fruit Salad

Sometimes it's a week night but you feel like it's the weekend so you get your nails done, screw dinner and start drinking by sunset. Fast forward a few blurry hours and you wake up the next day not sure how you got under the sofa and why you have cherry-flavoured something or other glueing your ponytail to your cheek. You have twenty minutes to get to work and you're so dehyrdated only a G&T will do.
But the smart girl in you is awake enough to scream out "DON'T!" so you err on the side of caution and decide to grab something that's actually good for you.
When you're running late and the coffee shops, fast food joints, restaurants are still doling out deep-fried hashbrowns, coffee and danishes the best thing to do is to turn to the fruit. However, even though it's summertime and we can smell Okanagan's rotting fruit from here, when it comes to non-carb options there's not much to choose from. You can either get 1. An over-priced 1000 calorie smoothie or 2. An over-priced fruit salad which is actually 4/5 cantaloupe, three half-grapes and one quarter of a strawberry.
Unless, of course, you go to Take Five. They are the hung-over, dehydrated, on-a-diet-but-craving-something-sweet girl's saviour. You can go in there and choose with your eyes shut and you'll get the best fruit salad. Not only will there be the same amount of grapes as there is cantaloupe but the strawberries might even out-number the honeydew. What do you say to that? Nothing, obviously, you've got the pasties.
There are a few locations:
429 Granville Street (at Hastings)
683 Nicola (at Pender)
999 West Hastings Street (at Burrard)
701 West Georgia Street (at Howe)
