Sitting Through New Year's

Well New Year's approaches, and I'm sadly not particularly tuned in to the plethora of parties going down (shocking, I know). But hell, after 32 New Years, doesn't one start to yawn at the thought of wild drinkin', grindin' and side-stepping the vomit in the corridor which you hope wasn't your own?
This Dec 31st I'm joining a small group of people who are gonna meditate (in a presumably sober state) through midnight, being irresponsibly aware and balanced as the calendars flip over. Drop ins are welcome, so if you can't find the raucous party you were hoping for, this may be your next best bet. Some of the D.I.Y. Dharma gang will be there, so the vibe will be caj, cool, and not New Agey at all (whew).
The gang is meeting up at Unity Yoga beforehand for a last 2006 hang out. Then they'll meditate for a while in whatever way the group decides is appropriate (probably in some Therevadan (silent) style, and then everyone will surely zip off to catch up with all the drunken/cracked out New Years afterparties! Those meditators live in the now. That means that when they party, they party like there's no tomorrow: fucking hardcore, dude!
Unity Yoga (1672 E. 10 th Ave, upstairs)
9:30-11pm: Chat, mingle, eat, do yoga
