From the grey shadows of morning, the sun slowly and teasingly bared its gaze on the mixed peoples of Vancouver. By the time I arrived on the scene of Earthdance, the asphalt dance floor was bright, warm and busy. Not hyper, but busy. A mixed crowd and a friendly one. I was impressed to see little kids dancing as well as a decent number of people upwards of the four-o's gettin' jiggy. And ya gotta love crowds that make plenty of eye contact, smile lots, and don't sneer at your pants for being too fat or too skinny.

Anyhow, just after I'd arrived I was thinking that I needed to find a toke to get me up to the level of the scene, when suddenly the dj busted this super fat, funky, bass heavy twisty electro song that had me front and centre, dancing my ass off with my newest lover, the speaker. Ooh, she touched me in all the right places, baby. Meow.

Later on I was dancing hard, mostly to warm up after getting naked in the Pacific, and noted that even though the music was pretty techie, I was rather diggin' it anyways, almost as if I was cruisin' on vibe, and happily so.

At the end of the event (which ended surprisingly and disappointingly punctually), the organizers got everybody into a big circle holding hands to state aloud some affirmations which mostly ended with "I love myself". I assumed they were being tongue in cheek, but frankly, it was a little hard to tell. That was a wee bit squirmy for me, but it was totally out there when at the end, some random guy ran into the middle and yelled "group hug!" Holy shit, you shoulda seen the people all charging into the crowd to clench the arms and bods of the mass! Who says Vancouver"s passive? This shit is unreal!
